" Rock the Kasbah " 2009

A quick video on the immediate area surrounding Riad Laksiba, now see by over 12,000 on YouTube, quite scary !

Connie and her mum Jacqueline are escorted around the Kasbah quartier of the Medina in Marrakech by Hannah of Riad Laksiba.
Tapping away to Counting Crows "Mr. Jones and Me" I did notice that Hannah's escorting technique needs some polishing as she is filmed pushing Connie into a wall at the Agdal Gardens when off to feed the carp.
Although I am pleased that she appears to be behaving herself at the Saadian Tombs where some nice footage was achieved.
The Canon that Hannah is sitting on is at the base of Bab Aganou, the main entrance to the Kasbah and the most beautiful of all Medina entrances.
A brief shot of the Mighty Atlas from Rue de la Kasbah, the high street in the Kasbah, is one of the only Atlas views you can get from street level in the entire Medina. The other Atlas panorama was filmed from the terrace of Riad Laksiba. A poolside dip at Les Borjs de la Kasbah hotel and the day concludes at La Rotonda restaurant , a one minute walk from Riad Laksiba.

Oukaïmeden - Skiing Marrakech !

Almost a contradiction in terms but a great morning adventure, now seen by over 3,000 on YouTube.

Oukaïmeden is easily reached, if the roads hold up, from Riad Laksiba.
Hannah set off after breakfast, by taxi, and found the 90 minute twisty road trip through the Ourika Valley and into the Atlas Mountains as worthwhile as the skiing to be had at the destination.
Oukaïmeden does not really cater for a "skiing holiday" (To our skiing family's mind ..... it would be more comparible to a fairground attraction). But a great fun morning. You can get to the base of the slopes by Donkey ! Equipment and Lift-pass came to less than £20 for the day.
Having started skiing by 11.30am, Hannah had "Goggle Marks" from the African sun reflecting off the snow within an hour. By 1.30pm, two hours later, Hannah had pretty much exhausted every conceivable run and herself. "It's like skiing on a giant Slush-Puppy".
Lunch at Oukaïmeden was an excellent and cheap Lamb Tagine, a real highlight. As we ate... it snowed... but still really hot T-shirt temperature. A great morning excursion during a winter visit.
